About Brand-Building
Set up by Ambi M G Parameswaran, more commonly known as ‘Ambi’, Brand-Building is a platform that is set to serve the larger brand building community in India. The endeavour is to become a conduit for coaching and mentoring on a whole range of branding subjects including Brand Strategy, Marketing Communication Strategy, Start-up Advisory, Brand Management Coaching, Preparation of Brand Plans etc.
Ambi brings with him over 45 years of experience in a marketing, sales and advertising in companies such as Rediffusion Y&R Advertising, Boots Company, UDI Yellow Pages and FCB Ulka Advertising. He has been involved in the building of brands such as Tata Indica, Santoor, TCS, Digene, Tropicana, Sundrop, Zee TV, Tata Indigo, Sunfeast, Chandrika, Brufen, Wipro, Thermax, among others. He has spent over two decades with FCB Ulka Advertising Mumbai, one of India’s top five ad agencies, from 2003 to 2013 he served as the CEO & Executive Director and served as Advisor from 2013 to 2016.
From 2016 Ambi has been an independent brand consultant working with numerous large and small brands on their branding strategies. He has delivered keynote addresses and seminar sessions in industry conclaves and corporate events. He has, with the help of his partners, conducted training programmes, brand consulting assignments and more. Over the ten year period from 2016 to 2026 he has worked on numerous large and small client engagements with brands and corporates such as Pepsico, DDecor, Kansai Nerolac Paints, Tata Motors, Wipro Consumer, Aditya Birla Group, TI Cycles, Abbott, Sun Pharma, Campure, Tropolite, Innoviti, Deliotte, Athulya, ISteel, Nippon Paint, Yoga Bar, Medibuddy…etc
Ambi is an alumnus of IIT Madras and an honor roll graduate of IIM Calcutta. He has a PhD from Mumbai University and has also done the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School. He is the author of 12 books and more than 200 articles, many of which have appeared in leading business papers including Economic Times, WSJ Mint, Business Standard, Financial Express etc. He has two podcasts to his credit and has appeared on numerous business related podcasts. He has been a guest speaker / visiting faculty at his alma mater IIM Calcutta as well as IIMA, ISB, IIM Indore, NMIMS and K J Somaiya. He was a speaker at Kellogg India Business Conference, at Cornell University and has delivered five TEDx talks. He is an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at SPJIMR where he teaches Consumer Behaviour and Integrated Marketing Communications.
Ambi has served as member Board of Governors at IIM Calcutta and has been an Independent Director on listed and unlisted companies. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from both IIM Calcutta and IIT Madras. He is active on social media as #AmbiParameswaran and #Ambimgp.
